HOW TO AVOID MISTAKES IN ENGLISH – ‘did you go to’ or ‘went to”? 🤔
Did you go or did you went?

In English mistakes are often made by using the past tense after did instead of the infinitive without to. This is one example.

When you are asking about the past you use the auxiliary did at the beginning of the question which already indicates past tense. So we use V1, not the past tense, after did.

Did you eat your dinner?
Did John tell you that?

NOTE! – the answer to a question beginning with did is always in the past tense.

Did you see the picture? – Yes. I saw the picture [or “Yes, I did“]
